What a fantastic performance at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre and what a thrill I bet it was to support one of the worlds greatest rock and roll bands. If I can get away I will come to the Cambridge Hotel to see you. Keep Rocking.

Dear Mandrake,
I attended Deep Purple's concert at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on March 14 and I was throughly impressed with your performance!
It was my first concert and I've heard people comment on the piss poor acts that open the shows... Mandrake is one band that doesn't fall into that category! You guys rocked! I really liked your song "History"... it's nice to see an Australian act writing some hard stuff with taste!
As I said, excellent performance! Keep up the good work! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend your show at the Cambridge Tavern because I live on the Central Coast but if you guys venture down this way, expect to see me bangin' away in the pit!
Thanks for the tunes,
Tait Kristen. 15.3.01

Last nite I went to checkout the CD launch/gig by rock band MANDRAKE at Bar Broadway in Sydney. And I can happily say that this band REALLY ROCKS!!! I was knocked out by their sheer energy and ability to get the crowd up and on their feet. Really enjoyed the songs off their new album "VISCERAL" (if u don't know what it means, then look it up in the dictionary). Their music is quite heavily Purple influenced, which I can't deny is probably why I really dug them! Although by no means a "covers" band, they did play some incredible versions of "Wild Dogs", "The Mule" as well the subtle bits and pieces of MkIII and IV stuff in their own songs. Did a couple of Hendrix and Zep tunes - even a little bit of Supertramp just for a surprise!
I will be seeing them again - and as I said, MANDRAKE REALLY ROCKS. People in Sydney should get out and catch them. Their gig list is on www.mandrake.com.au
If you are into DP/Zep/Hendrix or just great hard (and some soft) rock - dont miss 'em, you won't be disappointed.

....Two very energetic and inspiring gigs by Mandrake at the pub afterwards and on Sunday nite. Thanks to all for making it happen! What else can I say, but simply a magnificent weekend.
